2017 was a fantastic year for End Grain Industries. A few amazing things happened:
-
I finished a contract with a client that was taking up so much of my time that I couldn’t really focus on anything else.
-
I assembled a group of incredible clients, all willing to put their trust in me.
-
I started talks with a brilliant person who believes so fully in what I do that she wants to join me as a partner.
-
I learned a lot from working with the teams of my clients who welcomed me with open arms.
-
I was invited into a networking group that has changed the way I speak about my business, taught me a ton and connected me with exceptional people I can look up to.
There were also some challenges:
-
I worked a lot and didn’t make a lot of money.
-
I struggled with my brand and explaining what I do.
-
I fell into some traps that I warn my clients about (like doing my administrative tasks WEEKLY).
-
I created a situation where my family had to sacrifice some things (like vacation) to allow me to follow my dreams.
Halfway through the first month of 2018 I’m reflecting on the ways that I’m changing my habits, improving my message and refining my business offerings. It’s such an incredible feeling to know that I’m in control of my future. Incredible, and really terrifying at the same time.
I hope that getting back in to the swing of things after the holiday break is as motivational for you as it is for me! In case you need it, here are some ways that I’m staying on top of my 2018 goals:
• It’s a marathon, not a sprint.
• Enjoy the process of working toward your goals.
• Track your progress.
• Find someone to support you and hold you accountable.
• Understand WHAT you are doing and WHY you are doing it.
